A child & Parents

Your ability to enjoy time together with your parents and to enjoy their company is a significant element of your family life.

You have the right to be cared for. At the same time, your parents have a right and obligation to care for you. To do that, your parents have the right to have access to you. This allows you both to develop and maintain your relationship.

There may be situations where you are separated from your family. In such case both you and your parents may wish to be together again and be reunited.

All of these rights - your right to be cared for, to maintain contact with your parents and to return to your family after separation - are protected by a human right called the right to a family life
