A child’s involvement in any proceedings with state institutions, such as court proceedings, can be frightening for the child. There are, therefore, specific requirements that have to be observed within those proceedings when dealing with a child. These requirements are designed to protect the child and take his/her age, vulnerability and best interests into account.
